Hotel Quest

LJ and I planned to be out the door early morning to start the search for the hotel that we can use for our wedding preparation. Well, it rained cats and dogs Monday morning, and that allowed me to sleep in, yey! We finally got our butts out the door by 3pm (so much for trying to be early birds, haha!)

I’ve done some research the night before and narrowed down our options to 4, so here they are…

Lancaster Hotel Manila
622 Shaw Blvd corner Samat St, Mandaluyong City, MM

What they showed us
Lancaster Suite Loft type (3 Bedroom)

What we think

Pros: It’s a great apartment type space. It reminds me of visiting a friends ‘house.’ How you have the dining and living area downstairs, and the bedrooms upstairs. You are really allowed to cook, and the kitchen was not just for display. They can also lend you cooking utensils, some pots and pans. Dennis was the one who gave us a tour and he was very nice and patient with us.

Cons: I think it’s a bit compressed. The living room has a good floor space, not a lot of sitting area though, but since most of the ‘kaguluhan’ will be in the master bedroom and cooking area, I don’t think we can all be comfortable moving around.  If I have a long-staying friend I might recommend this space.

Astoria Plaza
15 J.Escriva Dr, Ortigas Business District, Pasig City, MM

What they showed us
Two Bedroom Suite

What we think

Pros: Living and Dining area were very spacious with a big TV. I can just imagine us hooking up the Xbox Kinect and playing Fruit Ninja with the whole gang the night before the wedding. Nadine gave us the tour and she was also very accommodating. The kitchen was also fully functional, and we are allowed to bring in food just as long as it’s boxed properly in respect to the other guests.

Cons: There’s no grand staircase, hehe!  Seriously though, the hotel room showed to us was great, there were just small details for the pictorial that Nadine assured us can be requested, like rooms with floor to ceiling glass windows and also the big bed for the masters bedroom (the one she showed us had twin beds in all the rooms and didn’t have full wall glass windows). You also have to bring in your own cooking paraphernalia (No biggie though, I’m sure my mom intends to!)

Richmonde Hotel
21 San Miguel Ave, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, MM

What they showed us
One and Two Bedroom Suite

What we think

Pros: It was Josh who gave us the tour. The people behind the Concierge desk were very nice and always smiling. They are also used to accommodating request for rooms to be used for the wedding preparations like us. The bed looks so welcoming, I actually want to jump in and take a nap, haha! Both suite types have a small kitchen. They have a semi-grand staircase that you can use for the pictorials.

Cons: The space can get a bit tight for the wedding preparation. It is also the most expensive among our options so I was expecting for more in terms of the overall appeal and space of the room. However, if it was just for a an overnight staycation, I would want to stay here, that bed really looks comfy!

The Linden Suites
37 San Miguel Ave, Ortigas Center, Pasig City, MM

What they showed us
Three Bedroom Executive Suite

What we think

Pros: You want space? Then this is absolutely it! You can practice your dance production number in the living area if you want to and probably even finish the routine with a back flip with no problem. The kitchen and master bedroom was also very spacious. I know they don’t allow it, but it can be a great party venue, haha! Melanie was nice enough to show us this room. There is a semi-stairs near the front entrance for your pictorial, and the lobby of the newest tower can also be a good backdrop.

Cons: For us, it might be too big. A-alog alog kami. The front desk staff are also not at their happiest, haha! At this point we’ve already talked to a series of front desk personnel, and we’ll rate them the lowest. Going back to the room, if you are expecting a lot of suppliers plus your entourage and your family at the same time then this is the hotel for you, for us though, when I look at the space, I think paaarty!! “,)

So there’s our list, our Monday afternoon achievements. We’ve narrowed down the choices, and have asked for a price quote from my mom’s travel agent. I hope the rates will be reasonable, as we don’t want a chunk of the budget to just go to the hotel.
