Wednes-Date!

It’s the middle of a busy workweek, but for the love of my self confessed geeky fiancé, I took the early shift today just so we can avoid the after office rush to the movie theaters to see the Avengers. I don’t think I need to accompany him though; he looked like he was very willing to go see the movie by himself! Though I’m not a comic book/action movie lover, I have to tell you, that movie was AWESOME! I appreciated Hulk in this movie, I never cared much for him before. Ironman was his usual crazy character and that just brings in a lot of his appeal. Of course there’s Captain America… love, love, love!

Adieu my dear hairdryer

My basic bright yellow foldable hair drying apparatus gave up this morning. It served me for a good two years, which is quite impressive for me. I’m not a sentimental person, I rarely think twice about throwing something away. For me, the faster it get’s out the door, the sooner I can get something new. When I saw the cord sparked, and in a couple of seconds heard the sound associated with the short circuiting spectacle, I started to try to recall how long it has been with me -- not to be emotional, but for practical reasons -- I was in debate if I’ve already gotten my money’s worth (kuripot mode!).

“Hmm… had this last year I think, Oh wait no, I moved apartments and this was already with me, so it’s earlier.., I went on vacation with this, so probably earlier than that. Oh, but when I stayed in that apartment I was still using a different one… So probably two years… “

Lace, Pearls and Feathers

My office pal, Val, got married last Saturday -- sa Nueva Ecija lang naman! Since it’s such a long trip I looked up what other things we can do, pass or eat while we were in the area… well Mr. Google came back with a dramatic ‘nada.’ After trying different keywords and combo, the results just came back with short blogs about family trips, relatives, the visit to the dam, and bus stops. Trip advisor and other travel blog sites also came back with very little to none. I then resigned to the idea that it’s merely a ‘stop-over’ for those going to Baguio or Baler, so being such a nice friend that I am, I sent Val a very encouraging text and told him  “gandahan mo yang kasal mo at yan na yung “adventure” at tourist spot namin, haha!”  I sent this the night before his wedding, PRESUUuuRRE!!!

Sure enough when we got to there, the entourage dresses and the reception styling stayed true to the theme. Though I know for a fact that these pictures will not give justice to the stunning wedding we’ve witnessed, please go ahead and view them, just add 10x more to the wow factor!

The church was exquisite, very unique and fits the rice field and clear skies backdrop perfectly.

Road trip to the Rice City

Family and friends thought I was crazy for even considering to drive my excuse for a car to Nueva Ecija. In addition to the very little off-road experience of my Chery QQ 308 (or in the city for that matter), I haven’t practiced my “driving skill?” in a while (say 3 months??), oh! And I recently had a slip and slide moment that left me with badly bruised toes, making it difficult to step on the accelerator. Needless to say, not a lot of people are confident to allow me to venture the long unfamiliar roads of NLEX and SCTEX.

It was my office buddy’s wedding and it never crossed my mind that I shouldn’t go because of the travel time. Two days before his big day, I was toying with the idea of just taking the bus, never mind that I don’t know how to get there, I figured I’d just Google. Well it wasn’t the easiest route to search, apparently Nueva Ecija is not exactly your top tourist destination, and there are very few blogs that shared their own experience, except that they stayed with family, they took the bus, or it was a long drive. Not much help for me. At this point, it was decided, just take the car and drive at the minimum allowed speed --- 80 kph (gasp!)

Marriage Requirements in the Philippines

As much as the wedding preparations are fun and exciting, there are some required admin duties that we need to take care of as well. I know, I know... the fees and the long lines are not as glamorous as the food and wine tasting that you had in mind, but nevertheless, it’s still part of the experience, so let’s enjoy every minute of it.

Here’s the list of things you’ll need to accomplish to make the union valid. I'll discuss more the details per requirement in the next few days, but for now, here are the basics...

Let the journey begin!

Welcome to my blog.

I recently got engaged and there are a lot of wedding ideas, questions, confusions that I need to sort out. I’ve joined some groups, and viewed various blogs which for the most part helped, but in some occasions also leaves me overwhelmed. There are so many things to think about from what is needed, those that are required and of course the budget crunching “nice to haves.”
I’ll post everything that I see that are interesting and inspiring. As much as I want everything, my bank account definitely will not allow it. So I thought I’ll just share it and hopefully someone else will be able to pick it up and use it in their own event.
Stress free wedding preps everyone! “,)
