CieLJ Weekend: My Kind of Birthday

The last few weeks have been difficult, with the new role, transitions, migrations at work, health concerns (still finding the strength to blog about it) and some repairs due at the condo, there's just zero time for me to plan or even imagine what I want for my birthday week. I waited too long, and as expected, all the good deals are gone. LJ insisted that we should still try to get a good vacation, so I went back to Google and searched for possible options. With just one week to go, I entertained the idea of us just driving someplace na pwede kami tumunganga, both of us just really want to rest and eat good food... at tumunganga :)

So here's what we came up with... semi-road trip to the South :)

I said 'semi' because it was basically a free and easy drive, if we want to stop we will stop, if we want to keep on driving we can. Absolutely no pressure to stop at the regular touristy pitstops.

Woke up early (well at least, by our standards) on the day of my birthday, took care of the laundry and packed our bags. We were out the door at around 1030-ish.

12pm we visited Greenfield, Sta Rosa to check out the progress at Solen. You can read back about Solen here. We are very excited with the idea that we will eventually be moving to a house. So many design ideas are crossing our head, but we still have time to figure that out, so those scrap images are reserved for Pinterest for now.

We got to Tagaytay by 1pm and decided to try the Hawaiian Bar-b-que restaurant located along the Tagaytay ridge. It's LJ's kind of place, lot's of meat and rice with Spam! Read our review here.

Since it's my birthday after all, I wanted to pass by one of the Tagaytay churches, believe it or not, I have never been to Chapel by the Hill (huwaaaat?!) so that's where LJ took me. I was expecting a regular chapel where I can sit and pray, but I actually spent a good 20 minutes just enjoying the place, the relics, and the LABYRINTH! :) So that's why those chairs were pushed to the side, LOL! :)

We were finally on our way to Punta Fuego by around 3pm, I think. We were cruising along, until we got to Nasugbu. Such a small town, but we had so many stopovers! --- Mercury Drug for the snacks, Chooks for the liempo, some local grocery to scout for drinks. I was ready to assume that people in Nasugbu only drink San Mig Light after so many failed attempts, until we saw the 7-11, and we finally  more variety.

No more road names, LOL!
Club Punta Fuego didn't register in the GPS, so after the Terreza de Punta Fuego, we were just driving and driving without a clear direction of where we are heading. We went up, down and around hills, until we  finally saw ONE sign to turn left. For those who will be going to Punta Fuego, watch out for those road humps, ang taas

Finally, we've arrived, and this was the setting for our 3 day retreat.

You can read more about our Punta Fuego experience here.

We had a lot of downtime, a chance to swim, read, write and just mainly enjoy the life that we are working hard for. A lot of us have been so immersed in the rat race, we need to remember that there are more things that we are capable of doing aside from creating presentation decks and reports. This is a week of vacation, yeah it's short, but it's something that I will continue to appreciate and celebrate, especially now with things happening around us. We are now more exposed to grown-up problems, we are learning to 'toughen-up,' but ohmygee it's not a walk in the park. You definitely need your rock, buti na lang astig-astigan kuno asawa ko.   :)

Random CieLJ Conversation excerpt:

Cie: Haayz... mawawala na ko sa kalendaryo
LJ: ok lang yan, asa Lotto ka pa naman

Yeah, he's supposed to be funny like that... and positive ...that's how we go through it all, one day at a time :)
