CieLJ Travel: Bohol Itinerary

We are sharing our Bohol itinerary from our recent summer weekend. It's a bit sad that a lot of the churches were destroyed by the recent earthquake, and even the platform at the chocolate hills is now just a third of how it used to be.

Part of the chocolate hills platform

Loboc church split in half

Despite this though, it's still a very beautiful place to visit.

I booked our tours through Travel Buddy, the good thing about Bohol is that the tour and rent rates are almost the same across the different agencies and groups. So it will all just boil down to quality and credibility. You don't need to be too stressed with the haggling.

Day 1
Flight to Tagbilaran via PAL

There is a BPI ATM by the Tagbilaran airport compound in case you need cash. There's also a BPI near the entrance/Walk way to Alona Beach.

Tricycle from Tagbilaran Airport to Alona Beach (Php 250). They are lined up outside the airport gates. Agree on the price before getting in and stick to it.

Check-in to Lost Horizon Resort
Dinner at Jasz

Day 2
Breakfast at Lost Horizon
8am Pick up for  Countryside Tour with Driver/Guide Kuya Kim :)
(Php 3,600, which includes all entrance tickets and lunch, but for the sake of reference, I'll still mention the entrance fees below)

1. Chocolate Hills (Php 50)

2. Butterfly Garden

try the home made ice cream

3. Manmade Forest

I should have brought my wedding gown,
perfect for ala Twilight pictorial!

4. Tarsier (Php 60)

Close encounters are no longer allowed

5. Hanging Bridge (Php 20)

6. Lunch Cruise at Loboc River (Php 450)

7. Baclayon Church

candles, for our specific prayers

8. Blood Compact Shrine, and Pasalubong shopping

We booked the tour for two people worth Php1,800 per head. If you will be a group of 3 or more, consider renting a car and paying for the entrance tickets yourselves since it can be cheaper. However, it may not be much compared to the convenience that you'll get so weigh your options well.

Day 3
430am Wake up and eat packed breakfast

530am Meet up with guide for the Ocean Adventure (Php 2,000 for the boat, total package cost was Php 2,700)

1. Whale and Dolphin Watching

2. Snorkeling at the Fish Sanctuary near the Balicasag Island (Php 150 entrance, Php 50 environmental, and Php 150 for the snorkeling gear. Optional Shoes Php 150). We didn't avail the shoes, and instead swam with our flip-flops :)

3. Lounging time at the Virgin Island

Lunch was optional at Balicasag, but since we were there early we didn't eat lunch there.

11am returned to Alona Beach to nap

Afternoon Snack of Hayahay Pizza (Php 440) and Buzz Cafe Ice Cream

Dinner at Trudis

Day 4
8am Breakfast

Check out from Lost Horizon

Taxi to Tagbilaran Airport (Php 500). Note that you can still take the tricycle back, it just so happened that we were traveling at noon and the heat was just scorching.

Flight back to Manila via PAL

This is a very relaxed itinerary, since we still want a lot of downtime in between activities to enjoy the beach and the hotel's pool. We also preferred a mid day departure so that we still have time to adjust back to the Manila rush before returning to work.

If you would like to work on your itinerary with Bohol Travel Buddy, you can try to contact them through (0917) 304 2385. Also, please remember that Bohol is still recovering from the earthquake. Tourism is just starting to pick up again, so please be reasonable when haggling for rates and generous when giving tips if you think they deserve it. If you are tired of Boracay, try Bohol next. It's got a good combination of land tours and water activities, you won't regret it. :)
