Wedding Duties: Hear ye! Hell yeah!

Less than 3 months left and we finally got a supplier for our wedding invites! Yey! We booked Printed Matter when we attended the Themes and Motifs bridal fair held at SMX.

We weren’t really planning to hire anyone, this was supposed to be my DIY project…

LJ thought otherwise; he was already imagining how I would look like -- a month close to the wedding, I'm covered with wrapping paper and entangled in ribbons, while crying that I can’t finish it. LOL!

So to prevent the drama, we went ahead searched for a reasonably priced invite.

While we were in the Themes and Motifs bridal fair, we liked a lot of designs, ranging from the simple to the highly unique. We considered those that had teddy bears in it, as well as chocolates. I was pretty sure that we would eventually find one that releases butterflies when you open the invite box (like the Bridal Shower invite in Bridesmaids).

What made the task difficult, aside from being forced to narrow it down to just one design, is the lack of available information. During bridal fairs, whoever mans the booth basically gives you a hand-out and most of the time, the ‘responsibility’ ends there. It’s very difficult to ask questions, modify an existing template, and to ask for an updated price, aside from what is already displayed, was just plain impossible.

There was even one invite supplier (and this is considering that she looks like she’s already the owner), who snubbed us when we were asking if it’s possible for the invite to be in a smaller size. The invite we were considering was about half the size of a typical sheet of paper and we felt we just needed something smaller, since we won't be putting in a lot. She looked at us confused, questioning "huh? paano? huh?," asking us with raised eyebrows how we intend to change the format. She kept asking why we would want to make it smaller and kept arguing that the size is just right, and the folds are already perfect for the design. Of course, our imagination was already running and we were sharing our ideas. Unfortunately she refused to budge and didn't want to let go of her established template... so she just answered that it will be the same price and the same effort will be given to the invite. Nye?!

Needless to say, we walked away. It was a good thing we did, because we landed at Printed Matter.

A big factor that encouraged us to book Printed Matter was because of the owners, Kerwin and Phoebe. They were very hands on, easy to talk to, and their display encouraged creative ideas. Kerwin spent some time chatting with us since we obviously looked lost. He remembered that we were already at the fair the day before (yup! we went Saturday AND Sunday, adik lang! hehe!). When you're talking to him, feeling mo lahat pwede! LOL! Phoebe was also very warm and talks sincerely to her ‘would be’ customers, patiently explaining the options that they can do for you.

After probably 30 minutes of talking, discussing different projects they've done in the past, and explaining to us what we can have as alternatives, we happily handed them our down payment and looked forward to our visit to their Concept Store.

This is one big item in our list, and officially the most urgent task we need to accomplish. Hopefully, we can send this out before December 8th! Haha! Good thing we already got our Save the Date comic, which we are also very excited about. We’ll share more about the Concept Store and the Save the Date in our next posts.

Wish us luck! “,)
